"Years ago I witnessed a scene similar to this one during a two-month field trip to Alaska with friends. Bald eagles were lined up all along the edge of the Chilkat River, feeding on salmon. This was one of the most memorable scenes we witnessed in Alaska, and I knew it would become a painting someday."

Bart Rulon has been a full-time artist since graduating from the University of Kentucky in 1990 with a degree in scientific illustration. He spends his time exploring the area surrounding his Whidbey Island studio, which overlooks Puget Sound, and taking researching trips throughout the world. From wading through tall marsh grass to paddling his sea kayak through shoreline waters, Bart’s painting ideas stem from what he sees on his outdoor adventures. Rulon's work has been included in many exhibitions with the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum. His work has been chosen many times for the Society of Animal Artists annual exhibition, and has been included in many publications.
